Week by Week Pregnancy 20 - 21 Weeks

During these weeks, your baby is about the size of a pear. This coincides with the halfway point of pregnancy. Your baby's muscle and bone development continues rapidly, which makes its movements stronger. Your baby's skin is still very thin, but during these weeks it begins to be covered with an oily substance called vernix.

These weeks are usually a comfortable period for the expectant mother. You can feel the baby's movements more clearly and this can strengthen the bond between the parents. Due to the increase in blood volume during this period, some women may experience nosebleeds or bleeding gums. Drinking plenty of fluids and a balanced diet are important during this period.
