Week by Week Pregnancy 18 - 19 Weeks
During these weeks, your baby is about the size of a sweet potato. The sex of your baby can now be clearly determined by ultrasound. Your baby's nervous system is developing rapidly and brain tissue starts to mature in this process. The baby enters sleeping and waking cycles during these weeks.
For expectant mothers, these weeks may be the time when they begin to feel the baby's first movements. This helps the mother to feel the pregnancy more and to bond with her baby. Also, due to the growth of the uterus, the abdomen continues to grow and a transition to maternity clothes can be made. A slight tensing sensation in the abdomen is normal, but if sudden and severe pain occurs, a doctor should be consulted.
