MYOM
Myomas are the most common, benign, non-carcinogenic masses in the uterus. It is called myoma because it originates from the myometrium, the muscle layer of the uterus. It is also called fibroid. Fibroids can be single or multiple, or of different sizes.
They develop different clinical findings according to their location in the uterus.
While an 8 cm myoma growing out of the uterus may not show any clinical symptoms; a submucous 1 cm myoma under the endometrium layer may cause intense menstrual bleeding.
Fibroids are quite common and occur in 20-50% of women over the age of 30.
It is especially more common in women between 40-50 years of age.
MOST COMMON SYMPTOMS IN THE PRESENCE OF FIBROIDS
Abnormal uterine bleeding; heavy bleeding or intermittent bleeding, prolonged menstrual bleeding that does not end is the most common finding.

Pelvic pain
Feeling of fullness and pressure in the pelvic area or abdomen
Frequent urination, inability to empty urine completely
Constipation
Infertility
There is no medical treatment for fibroids. They can only be treated surgically.
Hormone preparations used in medical treatment are used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding caused by fibroids.
Myomas without symptoms do not require treatment. Ultrasonography is used to check whether the fibroids are growing.
